FRA proposal to move station out of Ettrick to Colonial Heights.

Of the multitudinous plans to rebuild the former SAL south most have the new junction at the current Petersburg station. This would necessitate new platforms across live track or moving the station. If relocated north to Colonial Heights that could allow the current area for the junction while still allowing Raleigh bound trains a stop in the Petersburg area.

No connection to east service? the trains that run to/from Norfolk stop at the Petersburg (no "h" on the end) station.

 

 

The current service out of Norfolk is north-south. I was talking about a future Norfolk-Bristol service.

Plus: Passenger service would leave a cramped location. Minus: No connection to future east-west service. Such routes would go through downtown Petersburg but local officials show no interest in connecting north-south to east-west routes in the future.
