Amtrak should buy back the domes.  They should operate south of Washington on the two Florida trains or the Crescent.   Or on the Cardinal.   Or Boston - Albany.  Or daily Albany - Montreal.

Charter Steel owns an ex-UP Dome that they have kept in really good shape.  Have a hunch UP RR will buy it back for their excursion trains if it ever hits the market.

About ten years ago, that train was in Toronto on a track near the harbour that is now torn up. It was pretty fine to see and the track it was on was right across the street from the best liquor store in town. Nice.

Domes should operate on the ADIRONDACK year round.  Maybe in addition to this dome car Iowa Pacific might be in the market to sell some of its equipment.

Great looking cars that are Amtrak ready.  What AMT really needs are a few more dome cars, at least a second to team up with csr they have.

 

 

 
And where would the domes operate?  Almost all of the trains operating west of Chicago are Superliner-equipped and clearances would be a problem for many of the eastern trains.
 

Amtrak could pair it with its existing dome and provide service in both directions ie when the cars operate s on the Adirondack, their could be both a Southbound and northbound departures. Same when it operate out of Chicago to Detroit.  Again just my opinion.

I think the former Quadrucci that bought the train croaked and his heirs see no use for it.    Pretty sure the same will happen to the Charter Steel and Wire train that is in NYC colors and in the Milwaukee trainshed.    Generational thing.
