Now again another shutdown however gasoline stocks are lower since colonial has not restocked the east coast yet so unless pipeline can be fixed quickly ? However the diesel and jet fuel line is shut down at least temporary depending on verification it can be started up.
IMO the US government should immediately push for all who can to take the train and probably issue a temporary injunction stopping the SEPTA strike.
EDIT diesel and jet fel line now restarted.

Some pictures from Birmingham newspaper. Do not know if valve is a present one or an insert repair ?

BaltACD Phoebe Vet As of this morning in Charlotte: Small private stations are running out. The major players are sending 18 wheelers to the port of Charleston to get gasoline. There is still product available, but warning that it could change. Of course, prices are up, too. Feed the panic much? It isn't 1974. Just an excuse to raise pump prices in an oil glut.

No panic in Charlotte. Just keeeping people in the loop. I don't know about other cities. Should be repaired by mid week.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Phoebee thanks for the link with the map. Now know both Knoxville and Nashville are supplied by line. Map also may show that break up stream of Birmingham storage facility. Probably reason for state of emergency in Alabama as well ?

The pipeline goes all the way up the east coast.
Situation appears to be more wide spread. NBC news reported 5 states declaring state of emergency ( no idea which except Ga ). As well problems in Knoxville, Tn which " might " mean Chattanooga NE toward Roanoke and NEC ?
As far as tankers our local Loves station takes 2 or 3 tank trucks a day and its not that big with only 12 Gas pumps and 6 diesel. Maybe a feel good announcement and ability of tankers to make an extra buck ?
The media here are reporting that 18 wheel tankers are being used to help out temporarily. I haven't heard anything about rail. CSX and NS both serve Charlotte. I am not aware of any shortages yet, but prices are creeping up.
For all persons living along the Crescent route and Carolinian from Atlanta to New Jersey may need to take percautions. It has come to our attention that the Colonial pipeline in Shelby County, Alabama ( just south of Birmingham ) sprung a leak a week ago. One of the two pipes ( 48" & 42 " ? ) has been shut down for this time and reported not to be fixed until Monday or Tuesday ( hopefully ). The shut down pipe is one carrying gasoline.
A few discount Atlanta gasoline stations are running out and already some price gouging is occurring. Do not know if this affects Birmingham since location of storage tanks there unknown ? Atlanta's storage is in Doraville just NE of Chamblee NE of ATL.
Colonial claims it is running some gasoline thru the other pipeline but the diesel and jet fuel users are complaining that it will cause them shortages as well.
There may be no problem since travel season appears over but ? ? ? ? Use this info as you see fit.
