I can see it easy for east coast teams to get up and down the NEC, but what about all their equipment?  I think only a couple of NEC trains have baggage cars.  Does the equipment go by truck?

While it may be a 'big deal' for the Yankees to use trains for Northeast transportation - it isn't a big deal for the Baltimore Orioles.  They played the Washington Nationals last night (8/25) in Washington and then were taking the train to New York for their weekend series against the Yankees.  The Orioles frequently use trains when it suits their schedule and purse strings, with the frequent destinations being Philadelphia, New York and Boston.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Interesting, I had no idea any baseball teams used trains to get around today.

Ah, the Phillies' management is intelligent.

The Phillies always use Amtrak for games in DC and NYC.  Regularly scheduled trains, not charters, I think.

Gosh Dave, you need a faster internet. That Yankee train left way back in the A-Rod era.

NEW YORK YANKEES TO BOSTON BY RAIL

On a big weekend for the Yankees, recent photos show another big move for the team: to trains.

In a throwback to the past century, when teams would ride the rails to away series before the jet age, the New York Yankees chartered an Amtrak train to Boston last week for its three-game series against the A.L. East-rival Red Sox.

A win on the scorecard for rail transit in our new century?
