Replacement for Joe Boardman

I agree with Don Phillips that Gene Skoropowski would be a great replacement for Joe Boardman. I got to know Gene Skoropowski when he was the manager of the Joint Powers group that managed the Capitol Corridor commuter trains that ran from Sacramento to the Bay Area and Bakersfield. Gene did an excellent job of keeping the system runing on time and expanding the number of trains so that the trains ran when commuters needed them. He had the ability to negotiate with the Union Pacific railroad for more track time as well as the State and local governments for funding. He rode the trains frequently to keep in touch with his riders and listened to their comments and suggestions. Amtrak would be well served to recruit Gene for the job.
