A check of videos other sites showed the LD trains south from NYP had some interesting lash ups.
Crescent had 12 cars some days, Meteor had 13 1-bag, 4-sleepers, diner, lounge, 6 coaches. Star not so long. Guess lack of diner on Star not desireable. Couple unconfirmed reports said just 2 sleepers.
alexanderia station was another good spot wed . evening lots of the same also vre and the crescent
A check of NEC spine for thanksgiving shows some availability round trip BOS = NYP Wenesday but because of more trips ( 24 one direction ) than 39 train limit. Sunday not more than 40 seats each way but fewer total trains.
NYP = WASH still some seats each way both days but what is puzzling more trips on Wedensday even though the commuter trains on Sunday. Must be some reallocation of equipment between the two days.
2. Unconfirmed Coast Starlight thruDunsmier 1 V-2 bag, transition, 4 sleepers, sightseerer sub for parlor, diner, sightseerer, 3 coaches.
Question will the extra sleepers for #1 & 2 reduce food and beverage losses ?
If I have a slow work day the Wednesday before Thanksgiving I like to park by the CSX former RF&P line here in Richmond and watch Amtraks "Parade o' Trains". There's usually plenty of action, as they do seem to put extra trains on for the holiday weekend. If CSX has any freights that day they hustle them through as well.
One of the best shows in town, and it's free!
Although short distance train routes will have extra trips will start this with LD trains.
1. Meteor - 98 / 21 Nov unconfirmed report V-2 bag, 5 Amfleet coaches, Heritage diner , lounge, 4 V-1 sleepers, Beech Grove. Train on NEC
