"Informed sources" indicate that there is a problem with the dimensions of the modules for the sleepers and they don't fit inside the shells properly, we'll see as more information becomes available.
dakotafred daveklepper how can they receive and pay for full service dining cars when they have a mandate to bring food costs to breakeven? Well, by using the dedicated dollars Congress gave it for new passenger equipment. If I were Congress, I would ask Amtrak for an accounting. Where did the money go?

Good point, Fred. Out of 130 cars in the order, 70 are baggage cars and another 10 are baggage-dormitories. Only the 25 sleepers accommodate passenger and generate some revenue.

Please gentlemen - no politics and no speculation. I am looking for solid factual information on why these sleepers and diners, ordered long ago, are not yet delivered and in service. Thank you.
Excellent question, Dave. Sounds like a confused or inconsistent plan at Amtrak.
Can someone please fill me in on the delays getting the new viewliner diners, sleepers, etc. into service? Is the problem in production or what? It had been my understanding that they would at least be almost all into service by now. What gives?
