Martin,
Yes, it was the (old) Gothard tunnel.
Weather was dramatically different North side vs South side, but what's new?
from the Far East of the Sunset Route
(In the shadow of the Huey P Long bridge)
Have to respect the engine crews - Is that my signal?
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
You gotta respect the dispatchers.

JC UPTON Martin, Thank you for your movies. In early Feb. 1999, my wife & I arrived from the airport into the HBF. We spent the night in a hotel directly across the river from the station, then left for Milano on a 9:00 (seats in observation car). Very scenic ride over the Alps.... Makes me wonder if that train still operates... Thanks again

Yes they still operate. That's probaly the Eurostar service that goes thru the gothard route. But in a year or so part of the secenic ride will be made in the now famous new Gothard tunnel. Faster, with new HSTs (by Stadler) but not as beautifull
Got it on the PC. Tablet was a no-show. Thanks.

54light15 The entry to the Munich HBF is just as busy, there's even a viewing platform for railfans away from the station. Stand on the mezzanine in the station with a beer in your hand and watch the trains pull in and out. I was there with a friend who isn't a train guy and he was highly impressed. Got to get back there.

It's a great place to watch, as are Frankfurt HBf and Hamburg HBf.
Hello all ;
Here are two videos showing the traditional intense movement of trains in Zurich's main station.
First from platform level
And a sort of 'bird's eye view'
