Diesel Pennsylvanian under wires is not odd. It's been that way since the train began. And in their last decade or so the other Amtrak train that went west of Harrisburg did so too, changing from electric to diesel at Philadelphia instead of Harrisburg.
Although not as romantic for us electric foamers, changing at Philly meant they eliminated a separate engine changing, and mainainence, location, and could better utilize the electric locomotives, since there were many other electric trains at Philly that could use a locomotive rather than 1 or 2 trains a day at Harrisburg.

i was lucky enough to get a shot of this heading toward Philly. It came as a complete surprise.
This is very rare, and may not happen again. The cars were used as dormitories for Amtrak employees in Philadelphia dealing with the rush when the Pope visited.
Hello all ;
Here's a video depiciting action on the Keystone Corridor in the aftermath of the papal visit to Philadelphia. By the way, this special move with supeliners under the wires is quite rare right ?
Other things that suprised me (as an european): 'high speed' on track with wood ties, and there seems to be some work being done in the cat, since at least on of the 'takes' the poles seem very new. Also odd to see the Pennsylvanina with diesel power under the wires and also AEM7s are noted for their absense.
