Intermittently I keep my eye on the ATCS monitor layouts for UP's Sunset Route, mostly west of Tucson.
In recent weeks I've noticed a trend for huge delays of #1, usually west of Houston. The 1(5/09) train arrived over 5 hours late in Pomona! Todays #1 was down an hour at the first stop (SCH).
Any readers in south Texas know what's going on? Trackwork or ??

Obviously I haven't been tracking this route closely, but I just noticed an unusual delay. If you can believe the data at Dixieland Software the #1 of 8/15 was delayed Four hours this morning between Pomona and Los Angeles! Maybe they got stuck in the (new) trench ....
Yes, and the westbound Empire Builder is carded late into Whitefish, MT, again tonight by 67 minutes, if nothing worse happens, which means no Glacier National Park scenery. This has been going on all summer, is B.S., and should be appealed to the FRA.
The Amtrak Status Maps Archive Database (ASMAD) lets you search past Amtrak performance. Here are links for the average and median delays (lateness) for #1 over the past 60 days. It includes all stations along the route.
