dakotafred CSSHEGEWISCH And your point is??? Here is some more bellicosity thrown Trackrat's way. Speaking of points -- what's yours, CS? Trackrat's, it seems to me, is pretty clear: deploring the throwing around of (borrowed) federal dollars that could be better applied.

And your point is???
He might be "pretty clear" to you, however he is wrong.

It was 100K, not 150K, and it came from state sources, not the "feds".
Also, commercial service has nothing to do with this.

"We want to expand it to accommodate the larger transient aircraft we’ve been seeing.”
It’s cheaper for those planes to fly into New Castle for fuel and to stay overnight than to use larger airports such as Pittsburgh or Cleveland, he said."
An "expensive model collector"

Back during FDR's New Deal, a Pennsylvania county close to East Broad Top's major terminal was given $50,000 Depression-era dollars to eliminate grade crossings. The only track in the county was the end of an EBT spur that didn't cross any roads...
Be glad the grant for that hangar wasn't spent on more ethanol plants...

For repairs and upgrades to their hanger. Not bad for a airport with no Comercial Flights. We could give the New Castle Transit 150,000 to run express bus service to Pittsburghs Airport. Even more of a debacle is Youngstowns Airport with few commercial flights.
