On Sunday I was driving east on the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side of Chicago when I saw a passenger train crossing the highway on the rail bridge just east of Cicero Ave. It looked brand new, and was a design I'd never seen before. It was white, and had the logo of the MTA's Metro North Railway on it. I am familiar with the line, having taken it up the Hudson when my brother lived in the Bronx. Does anybody have any idea what it was doing so far from home? Are new MNR trainsets being built in the Midwest, and if so, does anyone know where?
These are M8 cars being delivered from the Kawasaki plant in Lincoln Nebraska.
