That's an interesting newspaper site.  Interesting quality of comments so far on the article, too.  Quoting Rob McCollum, one of the commenters, "It's refreshing to read coherent sentences from contributors with access to data."

I'm assuming that this would be a state-supported service.  With the new regime in Springfield, this isn't going to happen.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

I also found it interesting that the existing bus service is provided by Burlington Trailways. A bit of research on their site indicates that they are not related to the originally-railroad-owned company, but a newer company that liked the old name and chose for their new operation. Still, a neat name!

The Passenger Beltway Railroad of Chicago right now is a no go. The State of Illinois finances in general are depleted.

Given the state's finances and the new governor's views, the now line is highly unlikely for at least another four years.   But aside from that, would that line be useful?  It has been a very, very long time since passenger services.  And far-from-capacity Interstate 74 would parallel it from Indy to Quad Cities, including all intermediate cities.

It was reported here back in April that the State House had passed a resolution supporting this service.
