Dallas High Speed Rail Station proposal from DART

Since local authorities are taking over planning and construction costs for the Dallas to Ft. Worth portion of the recent Dallas to Houston high speed rail route, it frees them up to have a say in where stations are placed and rail alignments while allowing the existing proposal to concentrate on just Dallas to Houston construction.     Interesting proposal from DART and I think it is probably the best for an expanded Dallas Union Station transportation complex (see link below) the two rail alignments that I have read so far being considered was the Union Pacific between Dallas and Ft. Worth and the current TRE alignment.   Personally I would lean towards the TRE alignment with a spur up onto Airport Property to connect direct with a Airport Terminal(s).    Yes that part would be expensive but they could also construct additional airport parking around the new DFW airport line.     The TRE alignment does offer the potential for a spur up onto airport property more than the UP alignment does.   I do not like the proposal for a stop at the AT&T stadium on the UP alignment and feel that should be left to the future proposed commutter rail expansion.    Currently they are constructing a street car tracks from Union Station to Dallas Methodist Hospital that should open in the spring.   Which makes an expanded Union Station as a even better location.

Looking at mapquest it looks like the TRE has an old spur in place that approaches airport property but stops just short of it at FAA Blvd, maybe that alignment could be extended to a terminal.
