When the site is covered, Amtrak will electric siwtchers, to replace diesels.   Note most trains using the yard are Amtrak, LIRR does not use it much and NJT less than Amtrak.  Amtrak's Florida, Virginia, Carolina, Empire Service, Chicago. Montreal, Keystone, and Vermont trains, plus all NEC trains that do not run through NYC all use the yard.  The trains in the pix are Amtrak, not LIRR or NJT.
