Passenger Rail Nostalgia

Anyone knowing of interesting bits of passenger nostalgia may want to join this discussion. I'll start with an audio and slide show featuring the late, great Penn Station train announcer Danny Simmons.

Here’s a link to NY Times article about Danny Simmons.  It seems he died in 2008.

Thanks for sharing that great story. I first heard Danny around 1991 when I was between trains and ended up taking a later train. I met him that day and several times since, culminating in my interview in 1994 for the PTJ. Danny truly loved people and graciously allowed visitors in his announcers' booth, sometimes to the chagrin of station managers.
