BaltACD schlimm BaltACD D.Carleton BaltACD D.Carleton I have been on these cars and have met the owners; nice people who do not deserve this kind of nonsense from Amtrak. Amtrak is still staffed by human beings - fallible human beings. When humans are involved mistakes happen; despite all the best efforts to prevent them. Balt, I appreciate your sentiments but I have been a passenger car mechanic for a few years now and have yet to have my charges "roll away" from me. And for that you are to be commended; however, all employees don't have your skills, dedication and situational awareness. That does not excuse their failures - only explains that they failed. Never too old to have a happy childhood!
Anyone know if there is a raised service pit track that the cars could have rolled off ? Very hard to build any pits as the location is probably no more than 10 feet above sea level and water table very high in that area ?
Here is a report.
Word on another forum, quoting yet another forum, is that "the brakes on the two private cars were not properly set"...
sketchy report that Amtrak had a runaway car(s) at Hialeah yard. Anyone with more info ?
