DMUs
Posted by Buslist on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 5:26 PM
Just saw an EB on the UPW in Lombard Il with a 2 car set of what looked like European/UK style DMUs. Anyone have any info on these? Was a special train bracketed with idler flats either side, didn't notice couplers.

Got a response on another group that makes sense! Thanks Steve Scalzo. Nippon-Sharyo's Roselle plant has a contract to built about 20-25 DMU articulated cars for California and Toronto (Toronto's will be used theirs to establish commuter service between their airport and Union Station).Anyway, Nippon-Sharyo needed somewhere to test their first DMU and has received permission to operate it on Metra's Rock Island District between 16th Street and Englewood (where there are no street crossing) where some speed can be obtained. Thus, testing will be sometime this week (if it has not already occurred), and the DMU had to be shipped to the RID 47th Shop where the drive shaft was to be connect and the test performed
