One fact that has kept a low profile for the past 12 months is this:
"A federal judge struck down the law that told railroad dispatchers to give Amtrak priority over freight trains. Since then Amtrak’s on-time arrivals have slipped across the country, to just 74 percent since last October."http://www.railwayage.com/index.php/blogs/frank-n-wilner/amtraks-sisyphean-struggle-to-run-on-time.html

Deggesty Wow! That was written by someone who has delved into the matter! If he were to give a class on the process, how many would come?

Agree. Sounds like cleaned-up railfan-speak, though. I wonder if the guy's a railfan.
There is one missing fact - or not quite right fact. PRIIA of 2008 requires Amtrak measure all stations performance as well as end point. For example, the all stations perf for July for train 19 thru 7/16 is 52%. End point is 44%. NS's performance, based on recorded train delay minutes that are NS's fault as reported by Amtrak's conductors, is 57% thru 7/21.

I've noticed the MRR has been running a tad late recently. Actually, it's weird seeing a late MRR. Within the last few years the MRR was producing a low 90s OTP, mainly due to UP lengthening sidings to coal train length west of Cole Junction and doubletracking everything east of it. I'm of the mind that this is sort of a fluke.
Fairly balanced article on how River Runner is performing. At least facts seem to be correct.
