Thanks for the memory.   Those were smooth-running cars.

Rare glimpse back into the last days of the Milwaukee Roads Passenger Service

These two care were just posted on OZARK MOUNTAIN RAILCAR website for sale.      For those of you too young to remember or know these cars are largely in AS IS Condition (except for the paint and condition of the seat fabric) as to when the Milwaukee last ran Passenger Service in 1970-1971.      I remember the linoleum tiles in the restroom and the fact the Ladies restroom had a large waiting lounge attached (the men's had the same but slightly smaller).        Same with the passenger compartment linoleum tile on the floor vs carpeting.   Mostly Vynil seats instead of cloth.     The colors of the seats look similar to what I remember in the restrooms but I can't remember the passenger compartment.

The fake birch wood paneling was there (it now looks tatered.......I think it is mostly formica).    The odd pastel colors on the wall as well (pink and turquoise).          The large black and white toilets is how I remember the orginal toilets...........those small stainless steel models are updates.

From what I remember of the Milwaukee some of the coaches used self contained propane to drive the HVAC versus head end steam.     That was a modification made by the Milwaukee.   I am sure when they were delivered they all used head end steam.

Looks very, very similar to what Milwaukee Road ran in coach service prior to Amtrak though.
