Maybe we should be thankful that Amtrak is just taking one for testing. Much better for any hick ups to be found with all the other units still at Elmira ?
1. A possible way 61000 (?) will be tested is to run it around Albany keeping it close to Albany's maintenance forces.
2. Then run it on the end of 48 & 49 to some intermediate location and return.
3. Then test it Albany - NYP for a few round trips. Maybe 2 & 3 reversed
4. Attach it to a NEC regional NYP - WASH for 125 MPH tests.
5. Once any bugs worked out send it to Hialeah and bring more on line ?
6. Have to wonder if this car will be ballasted somewhere along the test schedule to max GVW to simulate diner and sleeper weights ?
7. wonder if it will sent to Pueblo after # 3 or 4 ?
And rocket man strikes again !
And there it is!!
