Caltrains route is only south out of San Francisco so they would have no need of an outlet to the east, across the bay. For Amtrak California services, it would be handy-but the cost would be somewhere between hellacious and impossible.

Any observations on how commuters coping ? ? Are the Capitol corridor trains getting more cars from the San Joaquin trains since the Co9mmet cars are now on one RT.  Just shows that Caltraain needs its own tunnel from the new Transbay terminal to Oakland ?  Here is one article  ?
