Incidentally, there seems to be no quick way to get between the UP line to Speer and the temporary station in Denver; we went up the D&SL line as far as Utah Junction and then over to the UP line on the Belt Line.

Operating crews are changed in Green River.

I, too, wonder if they will be qualified before the track east of the Moffat Tunnel will be usable again. There were pilots on board last Friday, as I was coming home from a trip to the South (where the folks know how to talk).

There was a washout at Greeley, which necessitated bus substitution between Grand Junction and Denver when I went east, two weeks ago.

Disregard my original thread.  Appears that today CZ operated SLC  --  DEN today.  Still question of how soon Amtrak crews will be qualified ?

According to the Amtrak site Zephyr is not operating across Wyoming yesterday, today, & tomorrow ( sun, mon, tue ).  Is this an Amtrak mistake or did it not operate.  If it did not operate could it be because of a shortage of UP pilots ?

If so were any of the Amtrak crew members previously qualified or maybe they are taking new familiarization runs or qualifying runs on UP freights ?   Anyone know ?  Also maybe the Moffett route crews may be qualifying as well or getting re qualified ?
