Vehicle miles per capita
Posted by blue streak 1 on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 6:16 PM

Detailed report on the number of vehicle miles per capita.  Just scanned the report but I can find a few items that gives me pause.

1.  This report may be cited as a point to call for more public transit but the report  seems to not  validate that theory.

2.  The report does not  cover the various metropolitan stats area but only covers whole states.

3.  Covers per capita instead of miles driven by persons of driving age.

4.  Wyoming and North Dakota the highest numbers  -- maybe due to almost all drivers employed and maybe not too many underage drivers ?

5.  Amazing Texas was much lower than many other states which might mean that HSR would not be successful ?

6.  State that has highest mileage and at least one large Metropolitan  population without any commuter rail is our own state of Georgia.  Atlanta has approximately 30 - 40- % of total state population population.

...

Maybe due to local circumstances:

A)  Long distances to get anywhere; and

B)  Little or no public transport alternatives.
