i put up this article because ,i was talking to my son last night , he lives on the downeaster route & he told me that the its become such a sucess that they want to slot more trains to go to brunswick , but north station is already at capacity with the MBTA & on the northern route they have po-ed , do-1,the sand train plus oil trains plus csx now says it wants to run intermodel to portland on the same route all i can say is DOUBLE TRACK !! but its nice to see sucess for amtrak
Thanks for the article. During the big dig Boston might have connected the two stations. That the city fathers didn't is a sin and a shame.
There is more than just double tracking that can be done.....there are several routes that have been lifted that might be revived.
