Agree with Henry -- ridership and farebox recovery up every year, what more do we expect, given congressional restraints? (I except the blown opportunity represented by the one-time money spent on those crazy baggage and baggage-dorm cars!)

They've had many good men at the helm.  But they've had too many in Congress changing directions, holding back funds, and not understanding the long range commitments needed to make the right things happen.  Joe Boardman has, so far, been pretty good at keeping things from going directly into the flames.  And, knock on wood, he's been there for a good time, about 4 years now...

RIDEWITHMEHENRY is the name for our almost monthly day of riding trains and transit in either the NYCity or Philadelphia areas including all commuter lines, Amtrak, subways, light rail and trolleys, bus and ferries when warranted. No fees, just let us know you want to join the ride and pay your fares. Ask to be on our email list or find us on FB as RIDEWITHMEHENRY (all caps) to get descriptions of each outing.

What Amtrak needs is someone who is very good at improving it's cost recovery as well as being quite good at finding new revenue streams, not to mention improving the revenue streams that Amtral already has.
