So I thought I would write this down for those of you looking for a deal. This program was inherited by Midwest Express Airlines and if you rack up 50,000 miles you can get this deal via Frontier. Both Frontier and Amtrak have the steps incorrectly on their websites so basically here are the instructions which I had to learn via numerous phone calls. The neat thing here is I did not have 50,000 miles I only had 30,000 miles BUT Frontier will sell you 20,000 miles for approx $400-450. Which is still a deal when you calculate how much this would cost you otherwise on a long distance train RT.
Anyhow here are the instructions:
1. Obtain a certificate from Frontier Airlines that you want the Amtrak deal and they will mail it to you via USPS.
2. Review Amtraks Blackout dates.....which are quite extensive and fall outside several holidays. Plan your trip around the blackout dates.
3 Call this special Amtrak number with the FF Certificate 866-526-8725 and make your reservation, they will need your certificate number.
