Orlando airport starts agreement with all aboard america
Posted by blue streak 1 on Thursday, June 21, 2012 5:56 PM

Below note released by Orlando airport authority.

Yesterday the Greater Orlando Airport Authority Board authorized the executive director of Orlando International Airport to work with us to develop an agreement that would bring the All Aboard Florida commercial passenger rail service to the airport's Intermodal Facility.

You can read more about the Authority's decision here.

As a supporter of All Aboard Florida, we wanted to share this news with you. We are excited about taking this first step towards selecting a terminal location in Central Florida and look forward to working with the airport's leaders to create intermodal transportation options that will be of great benefit to Central Florida's residents, businesses and visitors alike.

Thank you for your support,

All Aboard Florida Team

This brings up the question has anyone seen any track or other infrastructure work on the FEC IN RELATION TO THIS PROPOSAL. ??  I suspect that FEC is going to need more second track for the additional intermodal traffic ? Has traffic any come out of MIA port yet?

Woweee!  Just think of it: people, businesses, actually thinking in terms of intermodal transportation planning for people!   I know there has been some, but it is always good to see some new plans are being investigated.

This still begs the question --  "how do you connect Sun Rail to the FEC All aboard america route "??

I have lived in Orlando for seven years, my guess is that this idea won't go anywhere, but the idea is that it would run between lanes of a toll road (the "Beach Line" 528) which runs past the Orlando airport to near Titusville/Cape Canavaral/Cocoa Beach where 528 crosses to the FEC. Florida has a deserved reputation for corruption, if it is ever built I am sure that the bilking of taxpayers for this "private" for-profit passenger train operation would make Jay Gould proud.
