Friday 8;59 Pm announcement from marc;
Train 451 is stopped at New Carrollton Stn due to catenary power loss south of Landover. The Washington Metro is honoring MARC tickets.
The below announcement from MARC illustrates another CAT problem north of Wash Friday afternoon.
" Train 453 has departed Baltimore operating 60 minutes late. This train is making all stops southbound and is operating behind a five train group of Amtrak trains which have all been delayed by a power loss north of Washington. This powere loss has halted Amtrak trains due to their use of electric locomotives. Access into Washington is expected to be open shortly."
Fred Frailey watched the failure happen, allegedly.

Appears AMTRAK is substituting diesels or at least having them pull electric trains past the problem ?

AMTRAK had another failure of the CAT near Aberdeen today. This appears to be a failure of the 138 Kv supply lines ? Although we can hope not the whole CAT structure appears to be way past useful life ?
