UP track work in TX?

I am not sure what you mean.

Please see my post on Texas Eagle Schedule Change regarding UP track work between Fort Worth and Longview.  It doesn't say much about the track work, inasmuch as I don't know exactly where the work is being performed or the extent of it.

Yes, on another website said Amtrak is short 40 or  more engines out of service in Chicago.

According to its national fact sheet, Amtrak rosters 459 locomotives.  During FY11 an average of 16 per cent of them (73) were out of service at least part of the year. Whether it was for a day or several months is not revealed by Amtrak in its public reports.

A key question is what percentage of the locomotives assigned to Chicago are out of service? If it is less than 16 per cent, then the situation in Chicago would be no worse than the situation across the system.

Today #22 had two locomotives when I saw it at Taylor, Texas.  It usually has one locomotive.  If there is a serious locomotive shortage, why would Amtrak run two locomotives on a the Eagle when its normal operating procedure is one locomotive?
