The UP is doing track work in January on the T&P line between Fort Worth and Longview, Texas. Accordingly, passengers on the Texas Eagle are being bused between Fort Worth and Longview. I would imagine that the first class passengers in particular will not be happy giving up their room for a bus trip between Cow Town and Longview.
The northbound train from San Antonio is being turned at Fort Worth. And the southbound train is being turned at Longview.
Two questions! When the Eagle was a Missouri Pacific train, would MP management have implemented a procedure like Amtrak's or would they have found a way around the track work? Also, will Amtrak need an extra set of equipment to cover the Eagle's schedule, which will be one hour later southbound from Fort Worth, e.g. arrive in Taylor at 6:36 p.m. as opposed to 5:36 p.m.
