LaHood and US dot annnounced today Tue $ 82.7M grants for various projects in New England.
1. Third electrified track and new platform at Kingston, RI. 26.2M
2. Double track, signals, and grade crossings Wilmington - Ballardville, Ma to speed up MBTA AND Downeaster. 20.8M will connect to a new double track section already granted north of Ballardville.
3. 6 miles of double track Hartford - Windsor, Co Connection to a side track that was once part of old double track will give 9 miles of double track. Also an 8500 ft siding will be built at Hartford freight yard to remove freights off main line.
4. 2.7M in Vermont to improve signals and train control approximately 16 miles.
