Ilinois HSR
Posted by ndbprr on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 9:41 AM

Well our stupid Senator (dufus Durbin) announced Illinois' effort for high speed rail yesterday.  It is to consist of placing cocrete ties between Alton and St. Louis and Lincoln and Dwight in Illinois plus some new signals.  This will take 6000  People according to Durbin.  He also ridiculed the Governors who turned down the funding .

I note that our GOP Senator Kirk also favors HSR.   The portion referred to above is only the next phase in the CHI-STL route.

Hope the work on Chicago - Saint Louis wasn't killed in the new Federal budget.  Maybe represents return of Wisconsin and Ohio funds?  We'll see.

Didn't see the part about 6,000 people and have no idea what that was about.

Sen Durbin may not be respected by a forumist for whatever reason; but he has been a proponent of rail passenger service which is what is relevant here and deserves some restraint.

The posting was such a political rant that it's impossible to decipher what the 6000 was about.
