In the midst of cutting flesh off the bones of the state budget, Nevada's new governor, Brian Sandoval, put a plug in for high speed rail from Southern California to Las Vegas.
As a Las Vegas resident, I don't quite get what that is supposed to prove. The closest thing to support for Desert Xpress (the latest in a series of names for the project) in the Las Vegas Valley is total apathy. The local media didn't even bother to comment on that aspect of the State of the State speech.
I can only hope that this doesn't mean that Sandoval intends to put our tax money where his mouth is.
