Amtrak = 1 Fed-Ex = 0

Yesterday morning, at Wallingford CT (12 miles north of New Haven) a southbound Springfield MA to Washington DC through train was minding it's on business as it tooled along this 79mph speedway that connects "The Corridor" to Hartford and Springfield. Already with 98 passengers picked up in the first 60 miles of its run, it was minutes from the engine change point in New Haven (Diesel to Electric).

They claim it was "icy roads" that caused a "Fed-Ex" double trailer truck to hang up on the grade crossing, lights flashing, gates down. The fist trailer was on the track with the second on one side and the truck cab on the other, the truck driver bailed out. No one was injured as the "Genises Locomotive" and first "Amfleet Car" PLOWED through the trailers. TV coverage was complete, Fed-Ex boxes piled up on the Genises snowplow almost to the Ditch Lights, a trail of boxes running back along the train to the truck wreckage.

Passengers were bused to New Haven and put aboard other Northeast Corridor Trains.
