Here's a shot of an11 hour late Amtrak train #3 sitting in Barstow for its station stop. Not everyday you get to see the Chief sitting in front of the Casa Del Desierto during daylight hours.

Nice photo, thanks for sharing.

Interesting to see three locomotives on the Chief.  Usually runs with just two.  Being 11 hours late makes me think there was some type of engine trouble if it wasn't weather related.  Engine issues seem to be a common occurrence on the P42s as of late.  Where the extra unit came from though is anyone's guess.
