W Hotel, 172 W. Adams St., may be the closest hotel to Chicago Union Station.  Three and a half blocks east of there is The Berghoff Restaurant, a 112-year old emporium that serves delicious food at reasonable prices.

Hotel Allegro, 171 W. Randolph St., is six blocks further away, but their room rates may be lower.

All three businesses mentioned here have websites, but be forewarned:  Chicago lodging close to Union Station isn't cheap.

Have a good trip!

Check with Amtrak. Their hotel deals seem very reasonable.

Next spring I'm planning a upper midwest trip with a stopover in Chicago and Ann Arbor. What would be a good hotel choice for both cities close to the Amtrk depots? A search did come up w/ a Holiday Inn near CUS but still in dark about Ann Arbor.
