I'd love to see Amtrak with a unified cartype, Superliners in one hand and the Viewliners in the other. Nothing wrong with the Amfleets, but they don't match the other "square" cars. At least a Heritage doesn't look that out of place next to a Horizon. Hopefully they can blend them well enough and Amtrak dfoes not go back to looking like a hodgepodge of "stuff" like they did when they were first formed with all those paintschemes.

from inside info: the cars will look more like Acela cars, big windows, maybe single row, two roof type airconditioners and trucks with both tread and 3 x diskbrake.

 bigger toilet holding tanks.

Boardman said the new cars would not look exactly the same. "The specification gives the builder the flexibility for enhancements and upgrades, but we did not require the cars to have the same shape," he said.
