Amtrak CAT failure again
Posted by blue streak 1 on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 9:24 AM

Yesterday (Tuesday)  the CAT outside WASH union station fell down on one track severely restricting both Amtrak and MARC on the PENN line. The lack of constant tension CAT in this area has allowed the CAT to sag allowing for PANs to snag the wire because of this unprecented heat wave among other reasons. It appears that for some reason the CAT around WASH is more likely to fail during weather extremes.  Any comments or information?

Of course need the money to install constant tension CAT.

 Yep.

We are still not in a State of Good Repair.

Plus, Amtrak only got half the money what they wanted.  Write your members of Congress.  http://www.narprail.org/

Failed again Thur Aug 12th about 0700 - 0830. In all fairness the failure was listed as a power failure so it could have been signal power-- anyone know for sure??
