Southeast High Speed Rail Coalition Established
Posted by Phoebe Vet on Sunday, February 7, 2010 10:59 AM

Key transportation leaders from Alabama, Florida, North and South Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee met in Atlanta on January 25 and voted to form the Southeast High Speed Rail Coalition.  The purpose of the coalition will be to accelerate high speed and intercity rail connectivity in the region.

Recall that the Congress has designated a series of corridors across the southeast which would connect to our current SEHSR corridor between Charlotte, NC and Washington, DC.

I'm curious how interested Alabama would be related to Rail Passenger Service that it might have to significantly fund.     I don't see a lot of demonstrated interest in the past.      Just an opinion though.
