Private cars to Washington?
Posted by NKP guy on Friday, December 19, 2008 9:43 PM

I live very near to the CSX line east of Akron, Ohio.  Does anyone know if any private cars are scheduled to go from Chicago to Washington in time for the inaugural festivities?  I'd like to see or photograph such cars.

American Rail Excursions is promoting a trip, although what I have does not identify the specific cars to be used.  From the departure times it is evident they intend to go eastbound on the Capitol Limited on January 17th and return on the 21st.

Unfortunately, that train's schedule puts it through Ohio at zero-dark-thirty in both directions.

No, but two private cars are going from Charlotte to DC for the inauguration.

The Capitol Limited operates on NS trackage Chicago to Pittsburgh, not on CSX trackage through Ohio.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
