The Southbound Crescent on August 2
Posted by jvasser on Saturday, August 2, 2008 10:11 PM

The southbound Crescent had 5 or 6 extra cars on the end tonight.  They appeared to be former Budd RDC cars with orange letter boards on the stainless steel sides.  I was too far away to read the lettering.  I spotted it in Manassas, VA around 7:30 pm.

Anybody know what they were or where they were going?

I saw #19 in Austell Ga, yesterday am, approx 930am, still had those cars attached at the rear, was not close enough to read any lettering, just noticed that it looked kinda out of place?I could see people in them

Those are depowered Budd SPV2000s owned by the state of Connecticut and operated by Amtrak.

Some other forums have posts indicating these units are bound for New Orleans and potential storm evacuation service.
