Amtrak is suspending two trains along its St. Louis-to-Chicago corridor and modifying the schedules for others to accommodate track repairs.

Railroad officials say the changes will remain in effect through May 31.

Amtrak plans to cancel a morning departure from Chicago and an evening departure from St. Louis while modifying the schedules of three other Lincoln Service trains.

The Texas Eagle route and some Lincoln Service trains will be detoured around Springfield, and passengers to and from the city will be connected by bus with the trains in  Carlinville and Lincoln. Amtrak says riders should expect 60- to 90-minute delays. People who will have to take buses will be limited to two pieces of luggage.

About 477,000 riders traveled between St. Louis and Chicago last year.
