From the pictures, neither train was true HSR. One of the trains was a limited stop Express cleared for 100 mph running.

Heard about that briefly on the evening TV news.  One of the trains was described as "high-speed." 

I'm wondering what kind of HST(s) China now has?  - a.s.

A collision between two passenger trains in an eastern province of China with early reports of 70 dead and 400 injured according to reuters.
