Todays' (Nov 4th) Parade Magazine carries an article on passenger service funding and offers a place to vote for or against increased government funding of Amtrak, etc. I found the article worth reading and went online and voted as well. If you have an interest in passenger service, tke a minute to read the article and vote. You never know it might help.Big Smile [:D] J.R.

It's nice to see some good press for a change. For those who don't get Parade in their local paper, here's the link. A better way to travel.

Parade.com: I got on, I registered, I voted and instant results from everyone doing so revealed 99% in favor of increasing government funding for passenger rail.  That is overwhelming.

I left comments as well-hundreds are doing so and the sentiment is incredibly similar.

Thanks so much for the info; I thought it was a great article for the gen'l public and I learned a thing or two myself.

For those who read online, PARADE magazine is conducting a poll around the theme of whether Congress should increase train funding or not.

that article needs to be put in a bigger newspaper so more people see it or something.

A useful idea, but large newspapers and their chains seem not to be interested in running Parade  articles.  A researcher or reporter could use the facts in the article as part of the research, of course.  I wonder if Readers Digest might be interested.  Going by that magazine's newer, fluffier content, it might prove too "intellectual" for the R.D.

Still, we can't rule out everything.

How many of you have called your newspaper's editor or ombudsman and asked for a feature article along the same or similar lines??

I found it interesting that the complaints the author listed about the airline industry were/still are the same ones people make about passenger train service (late, etc.).

Interesting article, but he appears to be wearing rose colored glasses imo.
