Maryland road crews are gearing up to fight their 31st Winter storm of the 2013-14 Winter season.

Empire Builder cannot catch a break. With the Montana avalanche and now Seattle - Everett mudslide closure how can they even operate the route ?

BNSF Railway Co. has imposed a moratorium on passenger trains between Seattle and Everett, Wash., due to a landslide. These tracks are used by Amtrak Cascades and Empire Builder trains and are expected to reopen Saturday, March 8.
Alternate transportation with chartered buses is being provided between Seattle and Everett, Wash. and will cover all missed stops.
Amtrak regrets any inconvenience. This information is correct as of the above time and date. Information is subject to change as conditions warrant.

Amtrak cannot get a break. NS line between CLT -- Greensboro shut down due to the same old reason------ Snow, ice, downed trees, downed power lines. Crescent still stranded, Carolinian. Piedmonts cannot get thru.

BNSF Railway Co. has extended its moratorium on passenger trains between Seattle and Everett, Wash., due to landslides. These tracks are used by Amtrak Cascades and Empire Builder trains and are expected to reopen on Thursday, March 20.

Northline Sounder service between Everett and Seattle is canceled Tuesday, March 18th through Thursday, March 20th due to a mudslide. Sound Transit will provide special buses with direct service to/from Northline Sounder stations in addition to local bus service.
If there are no additional events, regular train service will resume Friday, March 21st for the morning commute.
Although it may be too many days away there are beginning indications that a weather "bomb" may hit the NE in about 5 days. Depending on the final track of the storm it could rival the 1993 "storm of the century". Watch your weather and remember a change of 50 - 100 miles of the predicted track could mean a nothing storm to a disaster
