Passenger Train History question

How many cars would the Super Chief have on a typical day in, say, 1955. How many of each type car would they have i.e. how many sleepers, coaches, diners etc.

That's difficult to judge based on season and ridership demands.  I can tell you that the El Capitan -- the all-coach train that used the same schedule as the Super Chief -- was sending out extra sections well into the Sixties, when the Boy Scouts were going to and from Camp Philmont. 

As for a typical Super Chief, I'm sure there are plenty of people who can give you better advice.  If you don't hit a response here, try posting as well in "Classic Trains" if you have not done so already.

Like Al said, a good place for this question would be in the Classic Trains section. I will say this, the Super Chief never had a coach in its consist untill it merged with the El Capitan.
