CMStPnPI know this is about a year old but concerns a Dallas Transit Project. DART has made all sorts of concessions to build this rail line including grade seperation on parts of the line, quad gates, etc. One problem DART had was fighting over where the station stops would be, some suburbs refusing to pay for any of the costs (those suburbs now have no stations but still have the rail line going through them). What I hear in the video is people saying the plan of the rail line has changed but it really has not. Additionally, they had plenty of opportunity to address their concerns previously but many did not show for those meetings. I see this a lot though as I stated in other threads I am on a HOA Board. Whenever we try to repair or build something major, regardless of the communication we have a bunch of residents try to shake us down for a chunk of money (even though they pay into the HOA). Various complaints surrounding that, workers on their property (there is an easement they all signed and these are city lots), workers leaving a mess while under construction (always keep an eye out and the minor mess is reasonable), damage to their lawns (nothing more than foot traffic and it will disappear in a few weeks), starting too early in the morning (9:00 a.m.), etc, etc. It never ends and never more than say 2-5% of people impact that become a noisy minority with the HOA. Nobody else cares. This is how I look at the complaints on this video. It's basically the same thing. Ridiculous complaints by people that want some form of financial compensation or some expensive method of amends that just benefits them and their property value. This drives a lot of the NIMBY movement as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ryX2fB_RJE Increasingly people feel the world should be about them and the larger community can go fly a kite.

NIMBY's trying to make a cash grab.
Never too old to have a happy childhood!
