NYC subway system short of passenger capable cars.

The subway system had an outbreak of vandales breaking windows.  Now system does not have enough cars to meet normal operation.  Here is link where author suggest MTA needs to keep retired cars for spares, reserve,&  other needs. Most are still operable but are being scrapped. He suggests other agencies also need to do same.

My thoughts are a severe weather event might damage many cars of any agency.  That also is someething that Amtrak needs to do.  Do you think Amtrak would?  Not this poster.  Wha tif a tornado went thru a rail storage location or an airport?  Airport damage could overload Amtrak with cancelled flight passengers.

OP-ED: Does NYC Transit have sufficient spare and reserve subway cars? | Mass Transit (masstransitmag.com)

Keep sufficient spares for the equipment you have and a sufficient number of employees to effect repairs in a proper amount of time.

Old equipment has been removed from service for legitimate reasons.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
