In the April Trains in an article about gauge changing trains, it mentions one in Japan. They were developing a gauge changing train on Kyushu for a new line from Nagasaki, in the west of the island, to join the main Shinkansen line, which joins with the other islands. This line has now partially opened as a 1435mm line and one has to change to a 1067mm train to fill the remaining gap to join the main Shinkansen line. As far as I know the FGT9000, prototype train has been abandoned. I saw it and photographed it, parked up at the Shinkansen depot in Kumamoto back in 2017.
I should also mention that through running of the MOB train in Switzerland has been temproarily suspended due to problems with switches on the 1435mm section in and near Zweisimmen being damaged.
So, they have no problems with wheel gauge slipping ? Mayabe NS and other RRs and interested parties need to inquire?
